Saxon Fraser
Saxon Fraser is an artist, performer, teacher and choreographer who is inspired by everything from contemporary to urban, Latin and West African dance forms. In 2005 she earned her B.A. with honours in Contemporary Dance Kinesiology at the University of Calgary and formed the female urban group Malfunktion. She has since specialized in fusion choreography, training with legendary teachers like Poppin Pete, Caleaf Sellers, Wojciech Mochniej and Vicki Adams Willis. Saxon joined Decidedly Jazz Danceworks for their 2006/07 season and Cross Canada Tour before receiving a grant from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts which landed her in Montreal Quebec. In 2008 she became a cast member in the urban dance drama “Retrospek” by choreographer Alex (Spicy) Lande and is now performing with Unkut Productions, presenting work at L.A. Carnival this summer. Saxon’s show Fluorescent:Lit From Within was an incredible success at the 2008 Slammenberry Jam Urban Arts Festival with Blue Collar Dance. Her work was featured in Freak Show 2009 at Calgary’s High Performance Rodeo and ReVERB for Dancer’s Studio West for which she received a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. With a background in musical theater she has worked as an actor in television, music videos and films, recently returning to the theater in Love Story Soundtrack (Mtl). Miss Fraser has performed with incredible artists in shows like Electric Shades of Grey (House of Dangerkat), Just Propostu (W&M Physical Theater), iDUB for the High Performance Rodeo and Encorps Dance Collective.
