Angela Beaupre
Angela Beaupre began her ballet training at the age of 6 in her home town of Terrace, British Columbia. At 11 she began attending summer dance intensives at the Canadian School of Ballet in Kelowna, BC (sister school to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet) and the Goh Ballet Academy in Vancouver, British Columbia. At 16, she trained at L’Ecole Superieure de Ballet du Quebec and discovered her interest in contemporary dance. She then returned to BC and attended Simon Fraser University where she achieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. There she studied under principle dancers from the Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham and Jose Limon dance companies in New York. She was a principle dancer in the Off Centre Performance Company, SFU’s in-house touring dance performance group. Since university, Angela has had the privilege of continuing to work with Graham principle dancer Judith Garay in her own company, Dancers Dancing, as well as with Croatian ballerina Jelena Bagaric-Mandic in Ballet de Printemps.
Overlapping her performing career, Angela began teaching the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus in 2002 and achieved her teacher’s certification in 2008. She has taught workshops through BC at various dance festivals and prepares her students for their graded and vocational RAD exams.
